The state Department of Health will hold weekly dengue information sessions in Kona and Hilo to provide updates and answer questions from the community about the Hawaii Island dengue outbreak.

The state Department of Health will hold weekly dengue information sessions in Kona and Hilo to provide updates and answer questions from the community about the Hawaii Island dengue outbreak.

Participants will learn about the prevalence, transmission, and symptoms of dengue fever; outbreak response efforts; how to interpret case counts and maps; and the best ways to fight the bite.

The first session will be held Thursday at 11:30 a.m. at the State Office Building, Rooms A, B, and C located at 75 Aupuni St. in Hilo, and at the West Hawaii Civic Center, Mayor’s Conference Room located at 74-5044 Ane Keohokalole Highway in Kailua-Kona.

Beginning the next week, the sessions will be held every Tuesday at 12:30 p.m. at Yano Hall at 82-6165 Mamalahoa Hwy. in Captain Cook.

The sessions are open to the public and scheduled to continue through February.
